Codex Repetitae Praelectionis

The Precedent to our right of self defense, from the time of Hedrian (A.D. 117-138) statutes of Rome contained in the Corpus Iuris Civilis, "the Code". In the West, the Code - the CJC - was incorporated by church fathers into our canon law. Translated from the original Latin, last published in 1954.

We grant to all persons the unrestricted power to defend themselves (liberam resistendi cunctis tribuimus facultatem), so that it is proper to subject anyone, whether a private person or a soldier, who trespasses upon fields at night in search of plunder, or lays by busy roads plotting to assault passers-by, to immediate punishment in accordance with the authority granted to all (permissa cuicumque licentia dignus ilico supplicio subiugetur). Let him suffer the death which he threatened and incur that which he intended. Codex Justinianus 3.27.1 "Since it is better to meet the danger at the time, than to seek legal redress (bring suite against) after ones death." A.D. 391.

Florida Statute Chapter 790

The most common error people make when approaching the law is failing to read it in it's entirety. Reading only one sentence, or one section, leads to misunderstanding, as is the case when taking almost anything out-of-context. Most often, one section of a chapter will affect other sections. The definitions section of a law chapter is usually overlooked or dismissed by the reader as being obvious. However, until one has an agreed upon vocabulary, one cannot fully comprehend the meaning of any chapter of the law.
